How Will the NIEPID-JVF MoU Transform Education for Children with Disabilities?
India has long faced challenges in providing uniform education for children with intellectual disabilities (CwID). To address this gap, the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) and Jai Vakeel Foundation (JVF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership aims to implement a structured, scalable curriculum to ensure quality education for CwID across the country.

Why This MoU Matters
The agreement was signed on July 18, 2025, in Mumbai, in the presence of Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of DEPwD (Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities). This initiative is part of the Disha Abhiyan, an education model developed by JVF and certified by NIEPID.
Key Objectives of the NIEPID-JVF Partnership
The collaboration focuses on several critical goals:
Nationwide rollout of the NIEPID DISHA Curriculum – Ensuring standardized learning for CwID.
Personalized learning through Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child’s needs.
Teacher training programs to equip educators with specialized skills.
Digital and printed resources in regional languages for wider accessibility.
Expanding reach to CDEIC centres, DDRS programs, and voluntary schools.
